Alaska Salmon Runs
The Alaska Salmon Runs, held in Cordova, Alaska, are part of the Salmon Jam Festival, offering a weekend filled with running, music, and community activities. The event features five races along the scenic Copper River Highway, including the King Salmon Marathon, Sockeye Half Marathon, Coho 10K, Humpy 5K, and the Smolt One Mile Fun Run/Walk. Most courses are point-to-point, starting outside town with shuttles transporting runners to the start, and finishing at race headquarters.
The terrain is fairly flat, with the marathon combining gravel and paved surfaces. Participants enjoy stunning views of rivers, mountains, and glaciers, followed by a post-run salmon BBQ lunch. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
Always double-check with the organizer's website – things can change, and we might have sprinted past a few details!
