Ames Turkey Trot

The Ames Turkey Trot is a family-friendly running event held in Ames, Iowa, featuring a 5K race and a Turkey Tot Trot for children (400 meters). The 5K course starts and finishes at Fitness Sports on 5th Street, weaving through downtown Ames, crossing the Grand Avenue bridge, passing Brookside Park, and returning via Ridgewood Avenue and Northwestern Avenue. The route includes one major hill but remains accessible for all ages and abilities.

Participants registered by mid-November receive a commemorative race t-shirt and finisher's medal. The event offers a festive atmosphere with refreshments at the finish line and special items for kids, including a coloring book and medal.
