Course, aid and logistics
All courses head west from Superior into Arnett (Arnett) Canyon and feature riparian sections, flowing creeks, sycamore trees and desert terrain near Picketpost Mountain. The 50K includes many miles on the Arizona Trail and a loop around Picketpost Mountain; the 31K reaches the Picketpost Trailhead and returns to town; the 12K and 17K use Arnett Canyon out-and-back segments.
Aid stations are placed roughly every 2 to 11-12 miles and offer water, ice, an electrolyte drink, sweet and salty snacks, and fruit. The event is cupless - runners must carry a container for refills. Crews are allowed at specified locations; pacers are not allowed for any distance. Drop bags are available at the start/finish only. The overall race cutoff is 4:00 PM and each distance has intermediate cutoffs and time limits (for example, the 50K has a 9-hour limit and must meet intermediate cutoffs at Picket Post II and Telegraph Canyon). Medical staff and portable restrooms are provided at the start/finish area. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
