Event overview
The Flagstaff Extreme Big Pine Trail Runs take place Saturday, June 20, 2026 at Fort Tuthill County Park in Flagstaff, AZ. The event offers four trail race distances:
- 50K
- 27K
- 13K
- 6K
All races use loops on Soldiers Trail and Highlands Trail through ponderosa pine forest above 7,000 ft. The 27K and 13K follow a 13K loop (27K = two loops; 13K = one loop). The 50K includes additional trails out toward Rogers Lake and returns through the start/finish for a final loop.
Course and logistics
Key course stats: the 50K is listed as 31.0 miles with about 2,440 ft total elevation gain and a maximum elevation near 7,701 ft. The 27K is about 16.8 miles with 1,293 ft gain; the 13K is 8.56 miles with 648 ft gain; the 6K is 4.12 miles with 287 ft gain. There is an overall time limit of 10 hours to complete the course.
Aid stations provide water, an electrolyte drink, sweet and salty snacks, and fruit. Longer-course aid stations are spaced roughly every 4 to 6.5 miles; shorter-loop stations about every 4 to 4.4 miles. Pacers are allowed only for the final loop of the 50K; crews may access the start/finish area only. Drop bags are allowed at the start/finish and available on each loop.
The course will be marked with orange plastic ribbons and laminated signs; wrong-way trails use blue-and-white checkerboard flagging. Medical staff are based at the start/finish. Chip timing is used and results are posted by gun time. Camping options and a night-run series at the same park are offered separately.
