Course and support
All runs use rugged single-track trails and dirt roads with rocks, sand, boulders, desert vegetation, significant climbs and steep descents. The 50K and 50 Mile courses include a hazardous section through Ford Canyon that requires basic navigation and downhill rock scrambling over the White Tank rock formations. Aid stations are positioned roughly every 1.8 to 8.8 miles and provide water, electrolyte drink, snacks and fruit; there is one extended stretch with no aid, so runners are asked to carry at least 2-3 bottles (about 50-70 ounces). The Mesquite aid is remote and will not have ice; Goat Camp aid accepts drop bags and offers ice. The event is cupless; reusable cups will be available for purchase or runners may bring their own. Crews are permitted at the start/finish and Goat Camp; pacers are allowed for the 50 Mile course after the 50K mark or at Goat Camp. Medical staff are based at the start/finish.
