The Whiskey Basin Trail Runs take place in Prescott, Arizona, with the start and finish at Watson Lake Park. Distances offered include:
- 92K
- 60K
- 33K
- Half-Marathon
- 10K
The 92K follows the full Prescott Circle Trail as a point-to-point loop around the city. The 60K and 33K run point-to-point on sections of the Prescott Circle Trail. All distances finish at Watson Lake with views of the Granite Dells.
Course, aid and logistics
Course surfaces include desert trails, pine and juniper forest, flat gravel paths, winding single track, technical granite rock, and rocky scrambles. Some sections use the Peavine Trail and the newer Storm Trails through the Granite Dells. The Prescott Circle Trail crosses several county roads and includes numerous gates that runners are asked to close.
Aid stations are placed throughout the courses (spacing varies by distance) and provide water, ice, an electrolyte drink (Gnarly Fuel 2O), sweet and salty snacks, and fruit; gels are not stocked. This is a cupless event, so runners should bring a reusable cup. Drop bags are allowed for the 92K at specified aid stations. Crews are permitted at designated locations for certain distances. Pacers are allowed only for the 92K, beginning at the Goldwater Lake aid station, with one pacer per runner and no bicycles or pets. Medical personnel will be stationed at the start/finish and can be dispatched to aid stations. Camping options are available at Watson Lake Park and nearby campgrounds.
