About the race
Austin's Backyard Marathon & Memorial Day Remembrance Run is a unique endurance event held in Lago Vista, Texas, nestled in the scenic Texas Hill Country near Lake Travis. The race features a challenging 4.167-mile trail loop around a peninsula with stunning water views and mixed terrain, including technical trail sections. It follows the Backyard Ultra format where runners complete each loop within an hour, starting a new loop at the top of each hour, continuing until only one runner remains.
Participants can also set personal goals, earning medals for half marathon (4 loops), marathon (7 loops), or ultra distances (8+ loops). The course changes at night to a different section, adding tactical variety. Aid stations, finisher medals, and custom event shirts are provided.
