Baker Trail UltraChallenge

The Baker Trail UltraChallenge is a 50-mile ultramarathon held as part of a three-race series on the Baker Trail. The 2026 event is scheduled for August 29, 2026 and covers the Northern section of the trail. Both individuals and relay teams of up to five members may register. Individual finishers who complete the course within the fourteen-hour cutoff receive one piece of a three-piece medal; finishing all three sections of the series earns a commemorative medal holder. Registration for the 2026 event opened October 1, 2025.

Course and venue

The race uses the Baker Trail, a 134-mile marked hiking route. The trail is marked with yellow blazes on trees, telephone poles, fence posts, guard rails, and similar objects. The route includes single-track forest trail, sections that overlap the North Country Trail, and stretches that follow dirt or paved country roads with some narrow shoulders. The Northern 50-mile course for 2026 is point-to-point, with about 6,200 feet of climbing, and finishes at the Brookville Evangelical Methodist Church (30 White Street, Brookville, PA 15825). The church serves as basecamp for check-in, a pre-race dinner, camping with porta-johns, shuttle service to the start, drop-bag collection, parking, the finish area, and a post-race picnic. Participant check-in is mandatory and is offered both Friday evening and on race morning. Three guided training runs in July are offered free and open to the public to cover the full course.
