Baker Trail UltraChallenge

The Baker Trail UltraChallenge is a 50-mile ultramarathon held on the Baker Trail in Godfrey, Pennsylvania. The event on August 29, 2026 is open to individuals and relay teams of up to five members. Runners must finish within a 14-hour cutoff. Registration opens October 1, 2025. The race is one leg of a three-part series; each annual finish earns a piece of a three-piece medal and participants who complete all three sections receive a commemorative holder. The series sections may be completed in any order.

Course, logistics and participation policies

The Baker Trail is a 134-mile marked hiking route; yellow blazes on trees, posts and guard rails indicate the path. The 2026 course is a scenic, point-to-point route from the northern terminus to Brookville Methodist Church, with about 6,200 feet of climbing and sections of deep forest and single-track that overlap the North Country Trail and pass through Cook Forest. Parts of the trail follow dirt or paved country roads, some with narrow shoulders, so runners must remain alert for traffic and for wayfinding. Organizers offer three free guided training runs in July that cover the full 50-mile course. Equity and inclusion policies for 2026 reserve 50% of spots for women, include transgender and nonbinary guidelines, and provide pregnancy and adoption deferrals. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
