Beaverfoot
Beaverfoot is a nighttime trail running event held at Beavers Bend State Park in Broken Bow, Oklahoma, nestled in the scenic foothills of the Ouachita Mountains. The race offers three distances: a 5K, an 11-mile, and a challenging 22-mile course. Participants run on rocky, rooty, and dirt single-track trails that include Beaver Creek, Lookout Mountain, Deer Crossing, and Skyline trails, featuring significant elevation gains—over 2,500 feet for the 11-mile and more than 5,000 feet for the 22-mile race.
The event emphasizes a no-cup policy, requiring runners to bring their own hydration systems. Runners must use headlamps due to the nighttime setting, and aid stations provide food, hydration, and electrolytes. The race fosters a supportive atmosphere with unique finisher medals, trophies, and a "Dead Freakin Last" award for the 22-mile last-place finisher.
