Event overview
The Big Cross Frozen Tundra takes place on January 31, 2026 in Pasco, WA at the Big Cross Cross Country Course, 3700 Rd 36 (west side of Tri-Cities Airport). The event offers the following distances:
- 2.5 Mile Run/Walk (open to ages 5 - 99)
- 5 Mile Run (open to ages 10 - 99)
Entry fee for each event is listed as $20. Each event is limited to 120 participants and the price increases after December 28, 2025. Organizers encourage formation of school and spirit teams and will score teams using the first five finishers; published team results are planned.
Course, logistics and safety
The course runs on woodchip, dirt and gravel trails and includes four significant hill climbs and descents plus smaller hills and flat sections. The 2.5-mile event completes one circuit of the course; the 5-mile event completes two circuits. All participants will receive sublimated race logo socks.
Race packets and bibs will be distributed at the start area; participants are emailed a packet pickup number one day before the race and must display their bib on the front, middle of the chest. Spectators must remain in designated areas and avoid crossing the race path. Volunteers are requested for setup, course monitoring and start/finish duties. Weather can vary in January; participants are advised to dress in layers and note that some patio-style space heaters will be available as warming stations.
