Event overview
The 2025 Binational Race is a San Diego to Tijuana road race held on October 26, 2025. The event offers multiple options:
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
- Virtual Half Marathon (U.S. only, 13.1 miles)
- 10K starting in Tijuana
The race is based at Las Americas Premium Outlets in San Ysidro, San Diego, and finishes at Playas de Tijuana. The event is described as part of a regional movement to promote cultural, social, academic, sports, political, and family exchanges between San Diego and Tijuana.
Course and logistics
The half marathon route starts at the west end of Las Americas and proceeds along Camino de la Plaza toward Dairy Mart Road. Around kilometer 5 the course passes the natural reserves of Tijuana River Valley Park. At kilometer 10 runners cross the border through the San Ysidro - El Chaparral international checkpoint and run on the Border (Far Right Lane) of Freeway 5 into Mexico. After the crossing the route continues internationally and includes about a 5 km descent before the finish at Playas de Tijuana, with panoramic views of San Diego noted along the way.
The 10K starts at Blvd Sanchez Taboada Bridge (Costco) in Tijuana. Participants must present appropriate travel documents at border control; U.S. re-entry requires a passport, Global Entry, or Sentry Card. U.S. 10K participants must present a U.S. passport and complete the Multiple Immigration Form (FMM); Mexican participants may show INE or a driver’s license.
