2026 Binational Race : San Diego to Tijuana Half Marathon

The Binational Race takes place on October 25, 2026, and links San Diego and Tijuana with a sanctioned half marathon course. The race starts at Las Americas in San Ysidro and finishes at Playas de Tijuana. Two event options are listed:

  • 13.1 miles - in-person half marathon
  • 13.1 miles - virtual half marathon (for U.S. participants only)

Course and logistics

The course follows Camino de la Plaza avenue from Las Americas toward Dairy Mart Road. At kilometer 5 the route passes near the natural reserves of Tijuana River Valley Park. At kilometer 10 the course crosses the San Ysidro - El Chaparral international checkpoint and uses the far right lane on Freeway 5 to enter Mexico. After the border crossing the route continues along the international corridor, includes a roughly 5 km descent with views toward San Diego, and finishes at Playas de Tijuana.

The event is presented as part of a regional movement that promotes cultural, social, academic, sports, political, and family exchanges between San Diego and Tijuana. Participants are required to present valid travel documents such as a passport, Global Entry, or Sentry Card at U.S. Customs/Border when returning to the United States.
