Event
The 13th Annual 5K Forward: Fast Track to Empowerment was held at Hudson River Park’s Pier 45. The event brought together hundreds of runners, sponsors, partners, and volunteers in support of Birch Family Services. The occasion coincided with the organization’s 50th anniversary and featured participation by individuals and families served by Birch, with spectators lining the course.
Results and support
The event was conducted as a 5K run. Official finish results and finish-line photos were made available online. The top fundraising team was Team Sammy, and fundraising for the event continued through June 30. Sponsors for the event included corporate and community partners such as Apple Bank, Wegmans, Aetna, and others. Funds raised support Birch Family Services’ programs for individuals with autism and developmental disabilities; the organization serves more than 2,000 individuals and their families each day throughout New York City.
