Black Canyon Triathlon
Montrose, Colorado hosts the 24th Annual Black Canyon Triathlon, a USAT-certified sprint event drawing about 200 athletes and their families. The race offers Youth, Adult, Youth Team, Adult Team, and Family Team Relay divisions, with 2- to 3-person teams. Distances vary by division: Youth 6–10 (100 yd swim, 5k bike, 0.8k run); Youth 11–14 (200 yd/8.7k/2.5k); Youth 15–18 (500 yd/22k/5k); Adults 19+ (same 500 yd/22k/5k as older youth).
The swim is heated in the Montrose Recreation District pool; bike on paved streets or county roads; run on sidewalks. Proceeds benefit the Montrose Recreation Foundation, supporting scholarships and community recreation. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
