Event overview
The Black Copperhead Sting is a trail race held at Rocky Branch Park in Belmont, NC on August 15, 2026. The event offers multiple distances:

The race uses a loop format and includes a 10-hour cutoff. Registration is managed through the event organizer.
Course and on-course support
The loop measures 3.24 miles and has about 293 feet of elevation gain per lap. The course follows named trail sections (Tread, Canopy, Tread, Eagle, Finish) and is marked with red ribbons and arrows. The terrain includes twists, climbs, roots, and rocks.
Aid stations provide a variety of food items including pickles, candy, cereal, pretzels, fruit, bacon, plus water, Tailwind, and sodas. First aid is on standby. Participants are required to wear their bib on the front. Trekking poles are allowed. Runners and walkers are permitted. Dogs and strollers are not allowed unless approved by the organizer. The event proceeds in rain or shine. Finishers receive a handmade pottery medal from BlueGill Pottery; each medal is unique. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
