Blazin' Summer Sufferfest - Cedar Hill
The Blazin' Summer Sufferfest is a night trail race held at Cedar Hill State Park on Saturday, August 1, 2026. The event uses the southern 12-mile DORBA trail system along the edge of Joe Pool Lake in a 1,826 acre park. Distances offered include:
- ≈5K
- ≈10K
- ≈18K
- ≈36K
- ≈54K
Course, aid and race rules
All races run counter clockwise on the marked loop(s). The ≈18K course is used as the base loop: the ≈36K is two loops and the ≈54K is three loops. Terrain is described as moderate to challenging and there is no trail lighting. The Copperhead Corner aid station sits on a fire road and involves a short out-and-back for the longer races; the ≈10K course crosses the fire road at that aid station.
All participants must carry a hydration device; the ≈5K has no aid stations and the ≈10K has one aid station at about 3.4 miles. The ≈18K/≈36K/≈54K pass the main aid station twice per loop. This is a cupless race; a reusable collapsible cup is available for purchase at packet pickup. Drop bags are allowed at the Start/Finish at the owner’s risk. Pacers are not allowed. Awards are given to top overall and masters finishers, finisher medals apply to distances 15K and over, and shirts are provided based on registration size. Participants aged 13 and older must pay the Texas State Park day pass fee. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
