The Bluewater Canyon Trail Race takes place on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the Bluewater Canyon Trail Head on County Road 29 in Bluewater, NM 87005. Course and event information
The main event is a 5-mile trail race that starts at the Bluewater Canyon parking lot. The course begins with 1 mile on a gravel road, then rises more than 500 feet to the top of Bluewater Canyon, follows established dirt roads with some rocky sections, makes a loop on the mountain, and returns to the parking lot to finish. There are three aid stations along the route. A short half mile hike from the finish area leads into the canyon and to a creek. Finish-area provisions listed include a fruit and beverage buffet. Medals will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers and the top three children aged 14 and under; walkers are not eligible for medals. All participants receive custom socks, and children receive t-shirts and other items in swag bags. Proceeds from registration are designated for the Cibola Trail Alliance.
