Event overview
BOOKING IT Through the Bluff is organized by the Hokes Bluff Library Foundation with co-sponsors the Hokes Bluff Lions Club and Tawannah Lions Club. The event is based at the Hokes Bluff Community Center, 5981 Gilliland St, Hokes Bluff, AL 35903. It includes a multi-sport triathlon and a separate 10K run. The triathlon may be entered by an individual or by teams of two or three, and a team option is listed for Ainsley's Angels. A shirt-only option and a kayak rental option are available.
Courses and logistics
The triathlon totals 42 kilometers and is made up of three sequential legs:
- 5 km run leg on town and county roads
- 4.5 km kayak paddle downstream on the Coosa River
- 32.4 km bike leg on county back roads
Triathlon participants must wear life jackets when in and around the water. Safety boats will be present along the river. The bike course includes a hydration station at the halfway point on Tom Cats Road. The 10K run is a loop that starts and finishes at the Hokes Bluff Community Center and includes hydration stations on course. Packet pickup is available the day before at the Hokes Bluff Public Library and on race day at the community center. Participants registered by April 14 are guaranteed a dry blend race T-shirt. Awards are given for triathlon and 10K participants, with overall and age-group categories specified for both events. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
