Event overview
The Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History presents the 17th Annual Buffalo Stampede on October 18, 2025 in Bryan, Texas at 3232 Briarcrest Drive. The event offers two distances:
- 5K
- 1 Mile
Races use live Chrono timing with disposable bib tags and are held on USATF certified courses. All Sports Timing conducts the event and posts official results. The event is scheduled to take place rain or shine; if the event is canceled for dangerous weather, entry fees will not be refunded. The festival Boonville Days follows the race with activities inside and outside the museum and free museum admission during the event.
Course, registration, awards and amenities
The 5K course is described as gently rolling, scenic, relatively flat, out-and-back through open country, neighborhoods, and parks, with a downhill finish. The route is marked by Area Wide Protective and includes two cheer stations along the course. Cheer station groups receive T-shirts, snacks, museum admission, and festival access; the first two stations to sign up receive a cash prize of $150 each.
Online registration closes October 17; paper registration remains available through race day. Race packets may be picked up at the museum on the two days before the event and on race day. Overall male and female 5K winners receive buffalo sculpture trophies; first through third places are awarded within 10-year age groups. All finishers in both events receive finisher medals.
