Cappy's Backyard Ultra

Located in rural Nevada, Cappy’s Backyard Ultra is hosted at Cathedral Gorge State Park, Panaca, Lincoln County. The race uses the Backyard Ultra format: a 4.1667-mile loop completed each hour until only one runner remains. Two course options exist: Day Loop (about 25% road, 75% MTB singletrack) with roughly 292 feet of climbing, and Night Loop (about 75% road, 25% dirt) with about 117 feet of ascent.

The event offers a scenic yet brutal test of endurance in a friendly desert setting, with a start/finish aid, well-marked routes, and a communal vibe. RRA provides dry camping, shirts listing participants, and a commemorative banner signing; the winner earns a Bronze Ticket toward Silver at Big’s Backyard.
