Purpose and awards

The race benefits The Champions Center for special children (formerly DCEC), which provides daily care, educational and therapeutic services to children with different-abilities and special needs. The center serves children with Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Hydrocephalus, Muscular Dystrophy, Cystic Fibrosis, genetic conditions and developmental delays. Individual and team awards are planned. Group prize categories include family, sorority/fraternity, business, school, church, best team costume and most team spirited. Individual awards are listed by age groups for male and female participants, plus separate best costume awards for adult male, adult female and child.
