Childish Nonsense : event details
Childish Nonsense is an ultrarunning event organized by CUSS Running in Palatine, IL, at Deer Grove Forest Preserve (west area). The event is held in April and offers multiple race distances.
- 50 Miler
- 50K
- 25K
- 10K
Course and logistics
Most of the course is a wide trail with little technical terrain. Runners complete multiple laps on the same loop: the 10K is one lap plus extra, the 25K is three laps, the 50K is six laps, and the 50 mile is nine laps. There is one aid station at the start/finish, encountered about every 5.5 miles, and crews may only set up at the start/finish area.
50 mile entrants may use a pacer after completing four loops. A single evening cutoff applies to all distances. Organizers note they will include informal activities during the day. The event includes policies for inclusion: a number of free entries are reserved for BIPOC and LGBTQ+ athletes, declared gender is accepted at registration, and non-binary entrants can request pronoun adjustments in race records.
