The 12th annual Cookie Classic Run takes place Saturday, January 17, 2026, at the Dismal Swamp Canal Trail in Chesapeake, Virginia (street address: 1246 Dismal Swamp Canal Trail). The event is presented as family-friendly and includes both in-person and virtual options.
Distances and course
All in-person distances are out-and-back on flat asphalt at the Dismal Swamp Canal Trail.
- Samoa Stroll - 1 mile
- Trefoil Trek - 5K
- Tagalong - 10K
- Do-Si-Don't Show - Virtual 5K
Features and logistics
Registered participants receive a T-shirt and goodie bag. 5K and 10K finishers receive a medal and a finisher gift; 1 Miler finishers receive an event patch. The in-person event uses chipped timing, offers professional photographs (digital images available free) and finisher certificates, and includes a finisher festival. Day-before and day-of race packet pick-up are available free of charge.
Certain items are guaranteed if registration is completed by set deadlines: a full-sized box of cookies is guaranteed for finishers registering by 10/15/2025, and T-shirt size and name on the shirt are guaranteed for completed registrations by 11/1/2025. Virtual 5K participants will not receive a box of cookies but will receive the finisher gift(s), medal, T-shirt and race bib, which will be mailed on 1/16/2026 or 1/17/2026.
