Event overview
The Cookie Classic Run is the 12th annual event on Saturday, January 17, 2026, held in Chesapeake, Virginia. Races are run on the Dismal Swamp Canal Trail start area (near the "Chessie the Bear" statue) at 1246 Dismal Swamp Canal Trail, Chesapeake, VA 23322. All in-person distances are out-and-back on flat asphalt.

Race features and logistics
In-person participants receive event shirts, finisher items and race services. 5K and 10K finishers receive a medal and a finisher gift; 1 mile finishers receive an event patch. Chipped timing, professional event photographs (digital images available free), and finisher certificates are provided for the in-person event. Age and gender place awards are given for the 5K and 10K. Virtual 5K registrants receive a finisher gift, medal, T-shirt and race bib by mail but will not receive the box of cookies.
Registrations completed by 10/15/2025 receive a guaranteed choice of a full-sized box of cookies at the finish; registrations completed by 11/1/2025 receive guaranteed T-shirt sizing and inclusion of the registrant name within the shirt back design. Certified service animals only; other pets are not permitted. Parking note: most map apps point to the Ballahack Boat Ramp; the event start is at the Dismal Swamp Canal Trail start near the statue.
