Coyote Hills event overview
Coyote Hills at Coyote Hills Regional Park in Fremont, California (9400 Quarry Road) offers organized running events in three distances. The event includes the following distances:
- Half marathon
- 10K
- 5K
There is a Hiker Division for half marathon participants who expect to take more than 3.5 hours. Hiker Division finishers are listed in the Hiker Division results, are not eligible for race or age-group awards, and still receive finisher medals. Event courses are planned and approved in advance but remain subject to change if park management requests adjustments up to race day.
Course, aid and files
Courses run along varied surfaces including paved trails, dirt trails, and wooden boardwalks through the marsh, and they offer rolling hills and bay views. Course maps were updated for 2024; the update reduced elevation gain on all courses (5K reduced from 540 feet to 107 feet, 10K from 540 feet to 184 feet, half marathon from 1,067 feet to 678 feet). GPX files are available for the half marathon, 10K and 5K for use with phone or watch apps. Water stations are fully stocked with water, sports drink, gels, pretzels and candy; the 5K has one aid station, the 10K has two, and the half marathon has three. Runners who may need more water are advised to carry their own bottle or hydration pack. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
