The D 4.9k is a family-friendly run/walk event held in Peyton, Colorado, open to D49 staff, students, parents, and community members. The race features a 4.9-kilometer course that is stroller and wheelchair accessible, suitable for all ages. A special 49-yard Kids Dash is also offered for young children, with finisher ribbons awarded.

Participants receive finisher medals, and prizes are given to the top three male and female finishers overall. Additional prize drawings include refurbished MacBook Air laptops. The event encourages school spirit with a “Golden Shoe” award for the school with the highest participation percentage.
