Event

The Daufuskie Island Marathon takes place on Saturday, January 17, 2026, on Daufuskie Island, just off the coast of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. The event offers the following distances:

  • 26.2 miles

The course is USATF certified. The marathon is run as two laps of the 13.1 mile course. The event is produced by Run 4 a Reason LLC / Rough Runners R4R INC.

Location, course and logistics

The race starts inside Haig Point, a private residential community on Daufuskie Island. The route uses paved and unpaved roads and passes through Haig Point, Freeport, onto Church Road, and returns into Haig Point along the beach. There are no bridges from the mainland to Daufuskie Island; participants travel to the island by ferry. A ferry pass is not included with race registration and must be purchased separately.

Packet pick-up is scheduled the day before the race at Palmetto Running Company in Hilton Head. The event provides on-island amenities for runners such as morning coffee and cinnamon rolls, a catered picnic lunch and beverages after the race, finisher medals with on-site engraving at the after party, and a post-race party in Hilton Head presented by Brooks Running.
