Event overview
The Deadman Peaks Trail Run is a high desert trail race near Cuba, New Mexico, scheduled for November 1, 2025. The start and finish are located on Highway 197, four miles west of Highway 550 near Cuba. There are no refunds; bib transfers are allowed until the end of October for the same distance. All runners receive a custom race bib, a t-shirt, and a finisher medal.
Course and distances
The course follows the Continental Divide Trail through the Rio Puerco Valley. It is mostly single track with some jeep trails and includes sand, rocks, and slickrock across rolling terrain. Elevations on the course range from about 6,350 to 7,400 ft. The route passes through piñon forest and hoodoos and offers views of high desert, badlands, mesas, mountains, and volcanic plugs such as Cabezon Peak.
- 53 mile : out and back starting near Cuba, heads south toward Cabezon Peak
- 55K : same route, turnaround at La Ventana remote aid station
- 30K : up the mesa, turnaround at Mesa Portales aid station
- 10 mile : out and back on the trail
