Course, services and logistics
The paved course begins at roughly 4,500 feet elevation and passes high desert vegetation such as Joshua trees, pinion-juniper, mountain rose, and sagebrush. Routes use out-and-back turns: the 5K, 10K, and half marathon each have defined turnaround miles on Lovell Canyon Road; the marathon includes an 11-mile out-and-back section plus a further out-and-back segment and has a seven-hour course cutoff. The road is rolling with gradual uphill sections. Expect daytime highs near 85-90°F and overnight lows near 65°F; on-course provisions and multiple aid stations are provided, with toilets noted at several locations. The course is unlit; runners on course after sunset are required to be reflective front and back and to use a headlamp or handheld flashlight. Race day packet pickup is provided, parking is at or near the start/finish, primitive camping is available at the venue, and all finishers receive a medal, technical shirt, and post-race food. Awards include overall male and female placings and age-group awards. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
