Course and logistics
The race takes place in Pennypack Park, along Pennypack Creek, with a figure-8 loop design. One loop measures 25K; 50K runners run two loops, and 50 mile runners complete three loops plus an extra roughly 1-mile dogleg per loop. The course surface includes soft and occasionally sandy spots, smooth single track, wider flat gravel trail, and about one mile of paved bike trail per loop. The route is mostly shaded and features short climbs rather than long climbs.
Time limit for the 50 mile distance is 12 hours 30 minutes. Each participant receives a full zippered running jacket, commemorative bib, and finisher medal; ultra finishers receive an additional hat. Overall winners receive a cuckoo clock and top age-group finishers receive German weather-house awards. The finish area includes live accordion music and post-race food prepared by professional chefs. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
