Course, equipment and race logistics
The swim is a triangle course off the middle Honeymoon Island beach; water depth varies from very shallow near shore to about 8-12 feet depending on tide. The bike uses a 6-mile loop over the Dunedin Causeway draw bridge and around Honeymoon Island, completed twice for a 12-mile total. The run leaves transition, follows parking lot asphalt and a hard-packed trail through the Osprey Trailhead; the run has been modified to two laps due to trail damage. The AquaBike ends when the bike segment is completed at Transition 2.
Packet pick-up is scheduled on the days before the race at local bike and restaurant locations and on race morning. The race provides assigned swim caps, helmet and bike numbers, a disposable timing chip to be worn on the left ankle, and bibs for the final run. Helmets must be worn and fastened for the entire bike segment. Park entry fees for race day are paid by the Rotary Club and parking on the island is free. Finisher medals are awarded to all finishers and awards are given in the stated categories. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
