Event overview
The End of the Road weekend runs Saturday and Sunday, October 18-19, 2025 in Waterfall, Pennsylvania. The course uses a closed, abandoned section of the Pennsylvania Turnpike that was bypassed in 1968. Each race day is limited to 500 runners and the event includes in-person and virtual options.

The Half Marathon route includes nearly 5 miles through Sidling Hill and Ray's Hill tunnels. The One Tunnel 4 Miler includes about 2.4 miles in a tunnel. Headlamps or flashlights are required for tunnel sections. Official pacers are provided for the Half Marathon events. Movie Night on the Turnpike is scheduled for the Saturday evening.
What registration includes
Regular registration includes a 2025 long sleeve tech shirt (with an optional hoodie upgrade), a finisher's medal, live timing and results, post-race food and beverages, and age-group and overall awards. Economy registration omits swag. Two-day challenge entries include a winter hat and a special pin in addition to regular items. The race offers an athlete guide and light recommendations for tunnel running.
Location and logistics
Start and finish are on the defunct turnpike at Cove Valley Travel Plaza, 3005 Pump Station Rd, Waterfall, PA 16689. Directional signage will be placed from the Breezewood travel plaza area on race days. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
