Event
The Fast Before the Feast is a 5K held on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 2025, in Mariners' Museum Park in Newport News (Boundary Road/Warwick Boulevard, across from Warwick High School). The course is an out-and-back run on the park roads. The in-person field is capped at 800 participants; the virtual Ferguson Fast Before the Feast 5K has no registration limit. Proceeds will benefit the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank. Each virtual registration contributes 50 meals to families facing food insecurity.
Logistics
Registration for each event is listed at $35. The in-person race may fill up and there is no race day registration. To guarantee a race shirt in the requested size for the in-person event, register by November 7, 2025. Virtual registrants who register by November 27, 2025 will receive a long-sleeve shirt that will be bulk mailed in December; unclaimed in-person shirts will not be mailed. Packet pickup is at Mariners' Museum (next to the former Peninsula Fine Arts Center) on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, as a drive-through pickup; someone else may pick up a packet with the runner's bib number. Chip timing will be used; times begin when a participant crosses the start sensors. Final results will be posted November 30, 2025. Refunds are not issued; entries may be deferred to next year (deferrals pay for the shirt) or transferred to another runner by November 7, 2025. A group discount of $5 off per registrant applies for groups of four or more registered together. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
