Event overview
The FATS race takes place on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at the Forks Area Trail System in Sumter National Forest near North Augusta, SC. Distances offered:
- 50K
- Half Marathon
- 10K
The event is a special edition for 2025 with an adjusted course because the Deep Step trail is closed. Registration closes on Wed, Oct 29 at 11:59 PM ET.
Course and logistics
The course uses three primary trails: Great Wall (bright red markers), Skinny (blue), and Brown Wave (orange). Trails are mostly single-track, shaded, rolling terrain with rocks and roots. Course turns will be marked and distance markers appear about every half mile.
Aid is provided on course. One aid station is crossed multiple times and another is crossed once. Aid locations offer water, gels, cola, ginger ale, snack items, fruit, chips, salt, potatoes, salt caps, and PB&J sandwiches. There are also two water-only drops. The event is cup-free; participants should carry their own hydration. Drop bags may be sent to the main aid stations (Aid Station 1, 3, and 4); no drop bags at Aid Station 2.
Parking is limited at the start/finish; overflow parking will be available on the forest service road. Packet pick-up is available the day before at Fleet Feet in Augusta and on race morning at the parking area. A wet trail policy describes contingency plans and refund terms if trails are unusable. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
