Event
The Firecracker 5K takes place on July 4, 2026, in Bryson City, North Carolina. The Rotary Club of Bryson City hosts the 36th annual race. The course starts and finishes in the historic town of Bryson City and meanders through the Deep Creek community, a gateway to Great Smoky Mountain National Park. The race is followed by the Freedom Festival, which includes all-day events and fireworks at night.
Logistics and awards
Registration opens April 1, 2026, and the listed price is $42. Runners who register by June 10 will receive a commemorative race shirt; later registrations may not receive the requested size. Onsite packet pick-up and registration are scheduled for July 3 at BC Outdoors, 169 Main Street, and on July 4 at 101 Mitchell Street (both in Bryson City). The event location is Riverfront Park, 101 Mitchell St, behind the Swain County Clerk of Court building.
Trophies are awarded to overall male and female winners, and a challenge trophy is offered for those who beat the 2024 overall male or female winners.
