First Responders "Bring in the Backup" Triathlon
The First Responders "Bring in the Backup" Triathlon, held in Northwood, Iowa at Swensrud Park and the Northwood Swimming Pool, is a patriotic-themed sprint triathlon welcoming athletes of all abilities. The event features a 150-meter swim in the pool, a 10.4-mile bike ride on rolling hills along public highways, and a mostly flat 5K run with one gradual hill. Participants can compete individually or in relay teams.
Additional events include a duathlon (run-bike-run) and an aquabike (swim-bike). Proceeds support local first responder organizations and scholarships. The race honors fallen officers and offers race medals, shirts, timing, prizes, and refreshments. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
Always double-check with the organizer's website – things can change, and we might have sprinted past a few details!
