Event overview
Florida 48 is a 4x4x48 ultra event held November 28–30, 2025 at Shangri-La Trailhead & Campground in Ocala, FL (12788 SW 69th Ct). The format requires runners to complete 4 miles every 4 hours for a 48-hour period. The event limit is 100 runners. Camping for three nights and meals from Friday dinner through Sunday dinner are included for registered participants. Crew members require a separate registration that also covers camping and meals. Registration and shirt order deadlines are noted by the organizer; shirts are guaranteed for registrations received by November 1.
Course, support and rules
The course is a non-technical out-and-back. Runners leave camp on a wide dirt road for approximately 0.75 miles, then follow the Santos Paved Bike Path for about 1.25 miles to a marked turnaround at mile 2, then return to camp for a 4-mile loop. The route has minimal elevation and is described as suitable for road or trail shoes and for rucking. Hydration and light snacks are provided between legs, and finishers receive an award and a challenge patch. As this takes place in a state park, participants must follow campground rules; violations may lead to disqualification and removal.
Rucking division rules require pack weight verification at check-in. Minimum dry weights are 20 lb for women, 20 lb for men under 150 lb, and 30 lb for men 150 lb and over. Packs must be backpacks worn on the back, carried for the entire race, with no outside assistance or weight sharing. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
