Course, support, and logistics
Most of the course is on non-technical dirt trails and fire roads, with some rutted sections and dune-like hills. Most climbing occurs toward the end of each course. Hiking or trekking poles are permitted.
Courses are marked with colored surveyor ribbon about every 200 meters; blue ribbons indicate wrong-way trails. Aid stations provide a range of foods and drinks such as energy gels, Stroopwafels, trail mix, PB&J, soda, water, and Skratch Labs hydration. Drop bag service is not available. Runners are asked to carry at least one 20 oz bottle. This is a cupless event; runners must use their own bottle or reusable cup. Reusable cups by HydraPak will be available for purchase for $5.
Post-race food includes burrito options and snacks. Awards include trophies for the top three overall (male and female), medals for all finishers, pint glasses for 50K finishers, and age-group medals (3 deep) across standard age categories.
