Friends of Government Canyon Recharge Run : November 1, 2025
The Friends of Government Canyon Recharge Run is a fundraiser held at Government Canyon State Natural Area near San Antonio, TX (12861 Galm Road). The event marks the 12th Recharge Run and the 20th anniversary of Government Canyon. It is organized by Friends of Government Canyon, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. The in-person event includes chip timing, awards for the top three male and female finishers and top three Masters (50+), and a finishers medal for all who cross the line. There are no age group awards. Each course has one aid station located about halfway that offers water, electrolytes, and Wildway Granola. The race caps at 300 participants.

Entry fees listed are $65 for the 15K and $55 for the 8K; virtual entries carry the same prices. The 8K is open to ages 8–100. Runners must park at Folks Middle School; buses will shuttle participants to the natural area and the start/finish is about a 1/4 mile from the picnic pavilion. Packet pickup is available October 30 at iRun Texas (Broadway) and on race morning at the picnic pavilion. The event is cupless (participants should carry a hydration device). In case of rain or trail closures the race will be run on paved roads. Virtual participants are not eligible for awards; packets for virtual entries will be mailed on or before November 3, 2025.
