Event details

The Frio Trail Runs take place March 7, 2026, at Garner State Park in Concan, Texas. Distances offered are 50K, 30K, 20K, 10K RUCK, 10K, and 5K. The 10K RUCK requires a minimum ruck weight of 25 lb. Registration closes the day before the race.

Course and logistics

The courses run mostly on rocky and dirt single-track trails within Garner State Park and include hilly terrain. The route features about 1,550 ft of elevation gain per 6-mile loop and more than 7,000 ft of total elevation gain for the 50K. The course includes a climb of Old Baldy Mountain with a view at the summit. Historic average temperatures for the event period are listed between 48 and 73 degrees. Organizers provide packet pickup, aid stations with food and hydration, course markings and support, on-course photography, finisher medals for all finishers, first-place awards by gender for each distance, a 50K finisher medal labeled "Toughest 50K in Texas," a DFL award for the 50K, and a 10K RUCK patch.
