Event overview
Frozen: H3 is a multi-distance trail running event held in Bethera, South Carolina, on the Jericho Horse Trail within the Francis Marion National Forest. Distances offered include:
- 100 Miler
- 50 Miler
- 50K
- 25k
- Night 25k
- 10k
The event uses looped 16- and 18-mile circuits for most distances and a separate out-and-back for the 10k. Dogs are not allowed on the course per the event insurance policy. Finishers who complete their distance within cutoffs receive a wooden finisher medal; top three men and top three women in each distance receive awards. A buckle is awarded to 100-mile finishers.
Course, aid and logistics
The course runs on dirt fire roads, single track, and double track. There are three staffed aid stations: one at the start/finish and two on the course. Aid stations offer typical ultra food and drinks; the on-course stations add some hot options overnight or early morning. The 10k has no aid on course, so participants should carry needed fluids. Porta potties are at the start/finish and both aid stations. Pacers may join 50- and 100-mile runners at the halfway mark. Night-time runners must carry a light and spare power or batteries. Runners may leave drop bags at the start/finish or at their vehicle; limited camping is allowed at the start/finish area. Volunteer time can be exchanged for race-entry discounts.
