Event overview
The Gallop & Gorge 8K takes place in Carrboro, North Carolina on Thursday, November 27, 2025. It is part of the Le Tour de Carrboro race series. The course is a USATF certified 8K (4.97 miles) that starts and finishes on Weaver Street in front of the Weaver Street Market and runs through local neighborhoods. The event supports local community partners and charities.
Registration, logistics and policies
General entry is listed at $30; the price increases after November 25, 2025. Online registration closes November 26 at midnight. In-person bib pickup and registration are available at Fleet Feet Carrboro (310 E. Main St.) on specified days before the race and on race morning; in-person registration uses a QR-code form and requires a smartphone and credit card. Race entries are not refundable and are not transferable.
Organizers advise carpooling and early arrival for parking because attendance may exceed 1,500 participants. Do not park in the Carr Mill parking lots. Several municipal and public parking locations are suggested near downtown Carrboro.
Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers in Open, Masters (40+), many age groups, and the Athena and Clydesdale categories. Winners receive pottery awards crafted by a local artist and specialty coffee for overall and top age group winners. A $50 prize is offered for anyone who beats the overall course records. Little Turkey Kids Races are free for ages 2-9, held on the Libba Cotten Bikeway with no pre-registration; parents must sign a release.
