Geode Challenge Races

Website Registration

The Geode Challenge Races, held annually at Geode State Park in Danville, Iowa, offer trail running events of 5K, 12K, and 25K distances. The courses feature diverse terrain including dirt and single-track trails, rocky sections, gravel, sand, grass, road segments, hills, and a creek crossing, with the 12K perimeter loop boasting about 800 feet of elevation gain. The 25K is a double loop of the 12K course, providing an extra challenge.

The event supports park projects and welcomes runners and walkers, including those with dogs on leashes. Participants receive a local geode as a finisher's gift, and unique handmade cedar plaques with mounted geodes are awarded to top finishers. Water and snacks are available at key points along the course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
