About the race
Girdwood Marathon 2025 takes place in Girdwood, Alaska, starting and finishing at the Alyeska Day Lodge. The event offers a Full Marathon, Half Marathon, Juniors Half Marathon, and a 5K Trails Race. The trail-oriented course winds through more than 30 trails in the temperate rainforest, including Winner Creek, the Iditarod, Nordic 5K Loop, Tiny Trail, Athabascan, California Creek, Abe’s, Beaver Pond, and Bird-to-Gird, plus the Alyeska Bike Path.
Runners should expect a rugged October trek with wet, challenging terrain; the marathon includes a 4.5-hour cutoff at mile 17. The event features five aid stations, wildlife awareness, and a BYO Bear Spray policy. It’s a fundraiser for the Girdwood Nordic Ski Club, with post-race bake shop treats and pizza.
