Glowing Gobbler 5K
The Glowing Gobbler 5K is a festive evening race held in Newport News Park, Virginia, on the night before Thanksgiving. This 5-kilometer run offers participants a unique experience as they race through the park's "Celebration In Lights," enjoying holiday-themed illumination along the course. The route starts near Deer Run golf course, includes a turnaround at the park's front gate, and finishes back at the clubhouse, allowing runners to see the lights in both directions.
The event is family-friendly, welcoming runners and walkers, and allows strollers but prohibits pets except for ADA-recognized service animals. Participants receive a chip-timed race, a glow-in-the-dark finisher medal, a race shirt, and a ticket to the light display. Parking is available nearby, and awards are given to the top male and female finishers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
