The Go for the Gold Run Fest, held in McMullen Cove, Alabama, is a two-day running event featuring distances from a Kids 1 Mile Fun Run to challenging 25K and 50K trail races. The trail runs offer rugged single-track courses with significant elevation gains—over 2,500 feet for the 25K and 5,000 feet for the 50K—through scenic mountain terrain rich in history and natural beauty. A special Sublett Point Challenge, a 3-mile out-and-back mountain run, crowns a "King of the Mountain." The event supports childhood cancer research and includes aid stations, a free buffet for certain races, and a flat, fast 5K road race through the neighborhood.
