Hamster Endurance Runs
The Hamster Endurance Runs is a multi-distance trail race held annually at Lake Padden, featuring 6, 12, 24, and 32-hour events. Created in 2013, the race raises funds for local organizations, with proceeds supporting the Whatcom Family YMCA's Girls on The Run program. Runners traverse a well-marked 2.6-mile loop around the lake, with aid stations offering food, drinks, and support.
The event emphasizes community, endurance, and personal achievement, with awards, custom keepsakes, and belt buckles for those completing 100 miles. Registration opens early each year, and the race attracts a diverse group of ultrarunners committed to pushing their limits in a scenic, wooded setting.
