About the race
The Hawaii Bird Conservation Marathon is a Boston-qualifying marathon (26.2 miles) held on the Big Island near Hilo, Hawaii, with the race date Sunday, December 21, 2025. It promotes bird conservation and supports the Keauhou Bird Conservation Center Discovery Forest and Bird Sanctuary, linking the run to forest birds such as the 2024 featured species, the Apapane. The course is described as downhill and among the fastest marathon courses in the USA, featuring a 2024 new route after a 2017–2023 course.
The event offers live results, race photos, and a conservation-focused experience in a volcanic-island landscape. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
