Hell Hole Hundred
The Hell Hole Hundred is a challenging ultramarathon held in June at the Jericho Horse Trail within South Carolina's Francis Marion National Forest near Bethera. The event offers multiple distances, including 10k, 25k (day and night), 50k, 50 miles, and a grueling 100-mile race. The course features flat dirt fire roads and single-track trails through hot, humid swamp terrain, demanding careful hydration and electrolyte management.
Runners navigate two looped courses (16 and 18 miles), with aid stations stocked with snacks and drinks. Primitive camping is available, and pacers are allowed for the 50- and 100-mile distances. The race is part of the Swamp Series, encouraging participation in three regional ultras. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
