Hell Hole Hundred
The Hell Hole Hundred is a challenging ultramarathon held in June at the Jericho Horse Trail within South Carolina's Francis Marion National Forest near Bethera. Offering distances from 10k to 100 miles, the race features flat but hot and humid swamp terrain with dirt fire roads and single-track trails. The course includes two loops (16 and 18 miles) and is well-marked, with aid stations stocked with snacks, drinks, and cooling treats.
Primitive camping is available, and pacers are allowed for the 50- and 100-mile events. Night running requires lights, and the event is part of the Swamp Series, rewarding runners who complete multiple races in the forest. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
Always double-check with the organizer's website – things can change, and we might have sprinted past a few details!
