The Hibernation Hustle 5k Run/Walk takes place on Sunday, February 1, 2026, in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin at Cannery Square. This is the 7th annual edition of the event. Race formats offered include:
- 5 km run
- 5 km walk (untimed)
- ~150 m Kids Dash (untimed)
The event is organized by the Sun Prairie Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department.
Entry, shirts, and awards
Online registration opens in November 2025 and closes on January 30, 2026; same-day registration will not be accepted this year. Packet pick up is scheduled the day before the race at Westside Community Building (2598 W. Main Street, Sun Prairie), and participants may register at packet pick up. Registrations completed by January 12 are guaranteed a t-shirt.
T-shirt options let participants indicate a Groundhog Day prediction by selecting a blue shirt for "six more weeks of winter" or a gold shirt for "early spring." The groundhog prediction will be revealed the day after the race at the 77th Prognostication in Cannery Square. Prizes are given to the top male, female, and non-binary finishers overall and in age groups: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. Volunteers are requested for race day.
