iRun WNY New Year's Day 5K : event overview

The event is part of the 10th Annual 5K New Year’s Classic held at Fort Niagara State Park in Youngstown, New York. Two separate 5K races are scheduled on consecutive days: one on New Year’s Eve and one on New Year’s Day. Both races start and finish near the historic lighthouse at Old Fort Niagara. The organizer plans to use a USATF-certified course. The first 125 participants will receive a custom finisher medal.

Both races use the same course loop but in opposite directions: the New Year’s Eve race runs clockwise and the New Year’s Day race runs counter-clockwise. There is one water stop on the course that runners will pass twice, and bottled water is provided to all runners at the finish. A post-race celebration and awards ceremony will take place inside a large heated tent across from the Officer’s Club.
