Course, cutoffs and support
The course is described as 99% trail and fire road and 1% road. Organizers list climbing totals of approximately 25,000 feet for the longest course (listed at 102 miles), about 16,500 feet for the 100km, and about 8,291 feet for the 50km. The route is an out-and-back loop system with pink markings, signs, and ribbon indicating turns.
There are four aid stations spaced about 4 to 7.4 miles apart: Baron Ranch Trailhead (start/finish), Island View Aid, Alisal Ranch Aid, and Gaviota Peak Trailhead. Aid stations provide bottled water, an electrolyte drink, carbonated beverages, hot and cold food, and vegetarian and vegan options. The event is cupless with limited exceptions. Runners are responsible for personal nutrition, medications, and first-aid items; drop bags are recommended for special dietary or medical needs. The 100km has a 24-hour cutoff and the 50km a 12-hour total cutoff; additional loop cutoffs apply. Waivers are required for everyone on the property.
